About

Tasana is a Russian first BNPL app, a virtual card that let users buy now — pay later. I joined as a sole designer at pre-seed stage to help them build and launch the MVP mobile product.

Goal

Design and launch an MVP mobile product from scratch

What I did?

As the sole designer, I covered user flows, onboarding, prototypes and the overall app experience (iOS), along with a landing page.

Challenge

BNPL was new to Russian users with no local competitors. The design challenge was to introduce a new financial model that felt clear, safe, and effortless to start using.

🔍

Transparency

Our focus was on creating a transparent design where users can trust that there are no hidden fees or unexpected charges

📖

Guidance

Given the sensitive nature of finance topics, the UI should be intuitive and provide clear instructions, making complex processes easy to follow

🌊

Smooth onboarding

The design should ensure a fast and simple registration process, avoiding any overwhelming steps

Onboarding

Onboarding

The onboarding flow was designed to be fast and effortless.
Just three steps to issue a card, plus a quick carousel to build trust and explain the basics.

From the home screen, users can instantly see what they spent and how much is left.
Unpaid purchases live on a separate screen, so nothing gets lost or overlooked.

Takeaways

The Tasana project taught me how to prioritize, collaborate effectively, and solve problems creatively under tight deadlines and technical constraints. I learned how to design within MVP limitations while still support user needs.

In 2023, due to financial instability, the company pivoted and the app was taken down. That are sad news, but who knows – maybe one day we’ll see a new shining star? ✨
